Research of the Institute of Crop and Grassland Science
The Institute for Arable Crop and Grassland Science drafts scientific basics for sustainable, yield oriented and environmentally acceptable arable and grassland farming.
The first emphasis of the work of the institute is the analysis of usage systems for arable and grassland sites with regard to their yield, product quality and environmental performance as well as the drafting of basics and indicators to document agricultural diversity (sustainable farming systems).
The second emphasis of the work of the institute includes the methodical development for the improvement of seed and plant quality and the analysis of yield-limiting processes in the plants or rather in the plant populations (yield development of agricultural plants).
The third emphasis involves the development and determination of quality parameters before, during and after harvesting to predict the quality of harvested products in the framework of precision agriculture as well as the optimization of crop and conservation technical practices to maintain the feed value and to reduce the toxin levels and hygienic problems in harvested products and preserved products (crop quality).
For the Institute of Crop and Grassland Science three closely linked working areas have emerged:
The institute maintains the following testing facilities:
